Why I need this program?
Our program can tweak your sound card driver, so you get a higer sound
quality. You may get a higer quality in MIDI and audio playbacks both.
You can also change some hidden sound card features.
Why your program give me a higer sound quality then I have now?
Our program can install a high quality 16-bit 4.6 MB wavetable sound bank
instead of your default 8-bit 2.3 MB bank from Yamaha Corp. If you using
your soundcard for CD and MP3 playback, you may also get a higer sound
quality. The program can enable undocumented soundcard driver modes, i.e.
high quality 44.1 to 48 kHz samplerate converter, hardware voice controls,
control panel modes etc.
Can I install your program for any souncard?
No. You cannot install it to any soundcard, but only to YMF7x4 series
chipset soundcards (YMF724, YMF740, YMF744, YMF754). More info about system

My soundcard driver is not supported to control bank modes. How to
be?
We recommend you download the supported driver version from your soundcard
manufacturer. If your manufacturer don't have any of the supported versions,
you can download the reference driver from Yamaha LSI, or a driver from
another manufacturer. More detailed info see here.
I use DB50XG. Can I install the program?
No, our program is only for YMF7x4 series chipset soundcards.
I'm using my YMF soundcard only for games. Why I need the program?
You may also use our program. When the soundcard driver is loading, it
loads the MIDI wavetable bank to the RAM. It allocates about 4MB memory
for MIDI playback. With using our program you can disable the bank loading
and free 4MB memory space, so your performance may increase. The program
can also control DirectSound and DirectSound3D voices.
After installing the program I hear a scrath noise while playing MIDI.
What's up?
This is a program demo version limitation. It may occur when you enabled
the extended XG wavetable bank while using the nonregistered version.
You should register to disable this noise.
Can the program enable new wavetable bank mode without restarting
the system?
No, your system must be restarted to apply new bank mode.
Can I use my own sound banks?
Yes, the program comes with Bank Editor that can extract WAV-files and
make new bank from WAV-files, so you can change any of samples. You can
use 512KB - limited WAV files with a loop points data and create new bank
with it size up to 16MB.
What is a "Dance Bank"?
This is a special wavetable bank for composers, who would like to use
modern sounds. The bank contains modern drumkits and special effects,
used in goa, trance, house, rave, drum'n'bass, jungle etc modern music.
Why the option "Extended 4.61MB Bank" is disabled?
The extended bank is not included into the program package, but you can
download it.

Can I use my own samples?
Yes. You can make your own banks.
Can I use *.SF2, *.WAV, *.DLS samples?
You can make your own banks with use any audioeditor like SoundForge with
use WAV files.
Do you planning to create more sound banks?
Yes, we planning to create special banks for the program, but in next
versions. Current version supports only Extended and Dance banks.
Why the site is changed?
Last PowerYMF maintainer Andrew Revvo has passed the project to
different team. This is also the reason of major restructuring of
support services. Current maintainer is George Yohng.
Why support service doesn't work?
Due to heavy mail traffic from Russian users (who received PowerYMF for free),
we have suspended current support service to restructure and provide
better support for registered users.
