Why not to use Internet Explorer?

My site statistic shows, that 85% of visitors use Internet Explorer.

While being the most popular, I consider it to be not safe enough for browsing Internet, as many Internet Explorer vulnerabilities were discovered lately.

Microsoft keeps up to date, issuing updates for Windows and Internet Explorer. Still, issued patches tend to be locally blocking the problem and not eliminating it completely. As a result, more vulnerabilities will be discovered soon.

There are known vulnerabilities of which I am aware. I didn't list them on my site for obvious reasons. Some of known and not-yet-patched vulnerabilities can even erase the hard drive.

Check secunia.com site for more information. There is also information on securityfocus.com.

Security updates will always be a step behind the exploiters, who discovered them. It's hard just to switch from Windows to Macintosh or Linux, hard for your business and workflow, but a browser switch is easy and doesn't involve any expenses.

In case you will find that Mozilla doesn't work for some sites, you always can launch Internet Explorer at the same time.

I'm primarily using free Mozilla browser. I would recommend you to install Firefox browser, which is the same as Mozilla, but without the mail client.

There is no catch in this free browser, it doesn't have nag screens or banners, it doesn't spy on you.

To mention, there is also Opera browser. It is fast, but you have to pay for it, and it presently has less support than Mozilla.

P.S.: It's not that I'm a paranoid... I'm not. :) To find holes, I never read any special magazines or disassembled anything. Exploits are available on public websites, which can be easily found on Google.

I do not claim also that Firefox has no vulnerabilities. It's just an expression of my personal experience. You decide what to believe.
